Quadrant Romance Fanworks Fest

Please read the rules and faqs! It will help clear some stuff up!

As a community kickoff we are collecting short prompts, a source of inspiration for getting started. The prompting period will last from May 15 to May 31, with the final list posted June 1.

The format will be Fandom, Ship, Prompt. For prompt feel free to use "Any".

For quadrant please don't use chat symbols (<> <3 etc), open brackets are sometimes confused for broken html by Dreamwidth. Instead use ♦,♠,♣, and ♥.

For two person prompts:
-Elementary, Joan♦Sherlock, recovery
-Invader Zim, Dib♠Zim, cafeteria
-Star Trek: TOS, McCoy♠/♦Spock, any

For ashen, auspistice in middle:
-Gunnerkrigg Court, Jack♣Gamma♣Zimmy, spiders

For crossovers, preface with "Crossover" and then list fandoms alphabetically and characters in order of fandom.
-Crossover, Elementary/Sherlock, Sherlock♠Sherlock, competition
-Crossover, Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones♠Lara Croft, “It belongs in a museum!”

For crossover ashen list auspistice fandom in middle:
-Crossover, Evangelion/Rayearth/Sailor Moon, Asuka♣Hikaru♣Rei, flames

For RPF you may break fandom down to subcategories:
-RPF - Bandom, Bob Morris♦Greta Morgan, solo

This is a suggestion, not a requirement. You may use just a simple "RPF" for fandom if you feel no subcategory is required.


For prompts involving multiple characters in multiple quadrants, use the format you think is most clear. If we have questions we will ask you.

List as many prompts as you wish in each comment. However, please do not edit your comment to add more. Instead begin a new comment.

After the prompting period is over a complete list of prompts will be provided for filling as well as a general comment meme opened (in the style of a kink meme). If there's a specific scenario you have in your mind, you may want to wait until then. During the prompting period and afterwards community members are also encouraged to post unprompted works to the community following these guidelines.

ETA: For symbols you can copy-paste or make them using the &name; form. For example & hearts ; minus the spaces is ♥. Plug in spades, or clubs as appropriate. Edited again, diamonds is diams, darn the changing language of the web. I'm terribly sorry for the confusing.

This is a post for socializing, brainstorming, and generally chatting with your fellow Quadrant Fest participants. Keep it civil and we should have no problems.

What is a quadrant?
In the webcomic Homestuck the troll species has four types of romance, divided up into quadrants. Each quadrant has its own unique features. Further explanation and examples can be found at this post.

What is the point of all this?
The goal of this community is to focus on non-flushed relationships in fandoms outside Homestuck. The idea is to explore other canons through the lens of the quadrant romance system. Flushed ships are allowed in conjunction with other quadrants, but you're encouraged to think outside the box!

Can more that one quadrant be involved?
Yes! Quadrant flipping is allowed, as is polyamorous set ups with multiple quadrants involved. More examples can also be found in the quadrant explanation post.

What fandoms are allowed?
Any non-Homestuck fandom is allowed, including original fic and RPF. Homestuck characters can appear as part of a ship or as a secondary ship, but at least one member of the work's central ship focus must be from outside Homestuck.

What about charms?
Charms are allowed provided one or more member of the charm ship is green and/or made of felt.
